  • Is the CDC Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country the same program as the ACORNS program?

 

Yes the two programs are the same, the Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country is the title of the CDC funding opportunity released nationally. The CRIHB award is titled ACORNS (Advancing California Opportunities to Renew Native health Systems).

  • Is there really over $2.3 million available for tribes?

 

Over the five year span of the project, September 2014 –September 2019, CRIHB will be releasing a series of funding opportunities. The total minigrant amount available over the five years is for all tribes in California is $2.3 million.

  • If we don’t apply now, will there be another opportunity?

 

Phase I minigrants may not be available in future years. Grantees will not be eligible for Phase II funding until they have completed Phase I. Additional funding opportunities will be posted on the program website as they become available.

  • Will the training for the CHANGE tool be an additional charge?

 

No, CRIHB will provide travel to the CHANGE training at no charge to grantees.

  • Do I have submit a detailed invoice?

 

No, the minigrants are deliverables based contracts. Grantees will need to show evidence of completion of the scope of work, but will not need to submit and invoice.

  • If my tribal health program applies, can our tribe apply on our own?

 

Overlapping community health assessment regions will be assessed on a case by case basis. We encourage all interested tribes and tribal health programs to apply.
