Public Health Nursing

For the past 18 years CRIHB’s Public Health Nursing Program has provided a unique blend of medical knowledge, leadership and critical thinking to its member tribal health programs and associate member tribes. The program has provided education to tribes and clinics to reduce the likelihood of bodily injury or death as a result of  car, bike, or firearm accident.  In addition, our program focuses on disease prevention by promotion and education about vaccinations such as H1N1(Flu), HPV and other childhood vaccinations available. We provide up to the minute information on Diabetes and nutrition for tribal clinics. Bringing current disease management information has also been a focus of our public health nurses.

A Wellness conference is hosted by the Research & Public Health Department and our Public Health Program along with Diabetes Coordinators, Dietitians, Nutritionists, Outreach Networks, Community Health Representatives and other specialists collaborate to share and learn new information.  Building a network of support through quarterly teleconferences is also another function of the Public Health Nursing Department. Lastly, acting as a technical advisor the department can advise other communities on how to improve their Public Health services.
