The California Rural Indian Health Board, Inc. is the educational training partner working with UC-Irvine on an educational project as a Subcontractor to provide  HIV/AIDS education and training to medical providers, CHR’s, dentists and other interested personal.  The project has been funded and approved by HRSA supplemental funding through the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center.  If your agency is interested in hosting a no cost training, please contact Barbara Hart at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Program Goals: Increase HIV/AIDS knowledge and skills in HIV testing and counseling and occupational exposure by providing training and technical assistance for nurses and other heath care workers within the Indian communities.
  • To increase HIV/AIDS knowledge and skill in HIV testing and counseling and occupational exposure.
  • To increase the number of clinic staff trained to do HIV risk assessment testing and counseling as measured by increasing HIV ELISA tests ordered at the four targeted clinics of the CRIHB.
  • To provide nurses and other clinic staff with the knowledge, skill and resources needed to manage occupational exposures through a technical assistance session that will include HIV policy and procedure writing that can be used by the clinic.

    US settles royalty dispute with Indian tribes

    The Obama administration says it will spend more than $3 billion to settle a long-running and contentious lawsuit over royalties owed to American Indians.  President Barack Obama hailed the settlement of the case, known as Cobell v.
