The California Rural Indian Health Board, Inc. (CRIHB) was formed in 1969 to enable the provision of health care to member Tribes in California.  It is devoted to the needs and interests of the Indians of California and is a network of Tribal Health Programs, which are controlled and sanctioned by Indian people, and their Tribal Governments.

CRIHB develops and delivers policies, plans programs and services that elevate the health status and social conditions of our People; that develop capabilities within local programs; that communicate, educate, and advocate on our shared interests; and that organizes support for our common goals.
It does this through program development, legislation and advocacy, organization development, financial resources management, training and technical assistance, networking and consensus building.

The CRIHB Board of Directors, in consultation with the Tribal Governments Consultation Committee (TGCC) through its adminstrative staff provide the following programs, functions and services:

  • Pertinent legislative, health policy, program management information, Contract Health Service appeals, research on Indian health issues, services to support quality medical practice.
  • Training and Technical Assistance to member tribes, Tribal Health Programs and their staff through efficient communication and marketing efforts, for example: The CRIHB Annual Training Workshop, (which includes Billing & Compliance Workshop, Human Resources & Leadership Workshop);
  • Coding Audits and Trainings, THNC/NextGen Trainings, HIPAA Trainings, Pharmacy Trainings, Information Technology Support and  Compliance Support & Training.
  • Program Support and Trainings, for example: The Medicaid Administrative Activities (MAA)program, Electronic Health Records Support and Trainings, Dental Support Center Trainings, California Tribal Epidemiology Center (CTEC) Support & Trainings, Public Health Nursing Support, Social Wellness, Nutrition and Health Education and SAMHSA program support.
